I mentioned to the technician that 1 bulb at the vanity didn’t work and could they change it when they fix the window motor. Wow, amazing hotel, located RIGHT next to Brandenburg Gates. We did not get a top end room but we got a view of one of the skylight gardens which felt like such a treat as it is a 2nd floor room. So of course he jinxed it and one card didn’t work - no apology when we went back to get another key; just another irritating remark. it is perfectly located as well and it's hard to find the will to try out another hotel when next in Berlin. The lobby is centred around a fountain sculptured to resemble elephants and frogs. Art Deco is the theme throughout. The morning breakfast buffet is one the best that I have seen while traveling in Europe. Staff were lovely (other than in the cheaper cafe on ground floor, more later) but we were very disappointed on check in when mentioning that we chose this hotel solely because we are great fans of the Bernie Gunther detective novels by Phillip Kerr that they had no idea what we were talking about. Fabulous stay at this wonderful hotel! Curtains are not black out but pulled tightly work perfectly. The suite is large with a sofa, armchairs and a table at one end, a work table that feels a bit odd in the middle (spare sockets on the floor) and then a really large, soft, comfortable bed with plump pillows.
